Simple Vegan Stuffing Recipe

There is no turkey necessary for this simple, but tasty vegan stuffing recipe! Enjoy your holiday meal with a hearty bread stuffing that is sure to remind you of warmth, love and good memories this holiday season. I like using French bread because of its especially chewy crust and soft interior, but feel free to use any kind of sliced bread that you like. The onion and celery add a little bit of earthiness and a depth of flavor that the bread readily soaks up as you slowly bake it to crispiness in the oven.

Ingredients:

¾ cup vegan butter (or olive oil)

2 large celery stalks, chopped

½ cup chopped onion

15 slices of your favorite bread

1 teaspoon Italian-style seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

-Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

-Start by cutting the soft bread slices into smaller cubes until you have about 9 cups total.

-Melt the vegan butter (or olive oil) into a large pan over medium heat.

-Cook the celery and onion for about 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

-Add the soft bread crumbs and gently stir until they are evenly coated with the butter.

-Now add the salt, pepper and Italian-style seasonings and blend the mixture well.

-Pour the stuffing into a deep baking dish and cover the top with aluminum foil before putting into the oven.

-Bake the stuffing for 30 minutes and then remove the foil and continue to cook for about 15 more minutes, until the stuffing becomes golden brown.
